Newz From The Prez October, 1993 Greetings to all! I am sorry that I could not join everyone at the last meeting, it sounds like everyone had a wonderful time.k Many thanks to Terry, Rich and Roger for various ATARI equipment demonstrations! I am hoping that we can do more eAciting little things like this in the future. As I said on the BBS, if you wish to demonstrate . something such as software or hardware, just bring it on in! We would love to see it.
Many things are coming up. In November will be the annual SPACE elections and in December will be the Christmas party. we will start planning the Christmas party at the next meeting. If you would like to be involved, please attend the October meeting. If anybody has plans to run for office in November, we will also have nominations this month. That is about it for this month! I cannot wait to be back with everyone in October. Keep on computing and we will see everyone at the next meeting! Your president, Nathan Block

I guess if you didn't coae to the Septeaber aeeting you don't know what you aiaaed. Well let ae tell you that you ahould £eel diaappointed. We got a birds-eye view of the Atari Falcon coaputer and it waa really iapreaaive. I couldn't believe all the bell• and whiatlea on thia aachine. It had aore alota £or peripherala than you could iaagine. I only wiah I had the bucks to get one. Alao at the aeeting a deao of Coaputer Eyes waa aet up and running and anyone who wanted their picture printed was generously obliged. To top 0££ the evening, there waa software being aold ao cheap that it waa alaoat free. The general aeeting waa very short but no one aeeaed to aind and the evening was one of the aoat interesting and entertaining that we have had since I becaae a aeaber. The club ended up with a net deposit of 939.00 £or Sept. thanka to our do• sales and two aeabership renewals. The only expense that was paid out was for the Sept. newsletter. As 0£ 9/10/93 our bank balance atanda at rather healthy 9688.62. Keep in aind that other expenses are due but are unpaid due to the £act that they haven't been presented to ae for payaent. Theae include the BBS bill and roo• rental fee which total about 9110.00. Coapared to other clubs treasurer'• reports we are in pretty good ahape.
Let's keep it going and I hope to aee aore aeetinga like the Sept. one. It really helps to keep the interest in 8-bit coaputing alive. See you next aonth.
BBS News
The BBS had a complete backup on 9 / 6 /9 3. A user sl o t was lost prior to backup . He needs to relog back on as a new user. F-rnail and Uploads : If you left f-mail with a scrambled upload either in the file transfer or description it either has been or will be deleted. This is to keep the BBS viable to all. Members of SPACE : Memebers of SPACE have full privileges on the BBS. Membership lapses will put the user into a non-member frequent user status. Such th i ngs as f - mail , better access to the sig-file area can be affected. Club Activities:
After talking with several members of the club, it has occurred to me that we as a club need to revitalize some of our club activities. Suggestions Heard: Have at least one demo per meeting other than the D. O.M. and / or games. A possihlity could be the ins and outs of Atari Writer and it-s variations. Have a roundtable session on SpartaDOS and all it-s variations. Renew the BBS presentations on how to access, get around, and exit the board. Start planning a solid program for the future by selecting a steering committee for club sanctioned projects. Think of taking in the ST club as they seem to be broke and have lost the use of Falcon Heights as a meeting place. There are other clubs around the country that have combined successfully.
Elections:
Is it time to give current officers a chance to enjoy the club without the extra resposibility of office bv volunteering to run for office:
An alternative get members t o volunteer to head various committees to enhance club activities and ease th load on the officers. Just some ideas Iv e heard around the meeting place as well as personal visits with members away froM t h e club . Something to think about! eh? ?

~C:E:1lN<. ??1 Minutes of Space meeting September 10, 1993 Meeting started at 7:50 pm. Nathan Block, president of club and the Fitzpatricks were not present. Sherm Erickson, presided over the meeting for Nathan Block. Sherm Erickson asked the people in attended if this meeting was the first time for anyone. Greg Leinter gave the treasurer report. Said club had $649.42 in bank. Most months the club experiences more expenses than income . said membership renewals is important to keep the club going. Larry Serflaten had a question about the bank balance. A Disk of the month demostration was given. Rich Miers and his son Roqer gave a demostration of the Atari - Falcon computer. Which was very interesting. Mark Vallavan suggested a demostration of how the Inter net system works. Which he said could be demostrated next meeting. Joe Danko said that Mark Vallavan downloaded 15 megs of files from the University of Michigan, which are Atari files. Joe Danko is going to work with these disks, so the files can be put on future club disks of the month. Meeting adjourned at 8:05pm. It was followed by more demostrations of the Atari Falcon computer and a video demostration by Terry Streeter. Mike Weist Recording Secretary
