I have enjoyed that job since 1987 and I would like to thank Glen Kirschenaann vho has done a wonderful job selling DOK's, buying supplies and atteaptiog to keep ae organized,

Hailest '93 was held at the Civic Center in St. Paul, Kinn,on October 30, 1993, There were product booths, ciub booths, and a big flea aartet area. This year at the Space Booth, Hike Schlidt, Larry Serflateo, Shera Erickson, Kike lleist - Recording Semtau - Toa Stelaacb, and I dutifully operated the booth, I shoved up to help operate the Space booth at about 11 a■. To ay surprise, the show was so big, I Space aeeting started at 7: 35 pa. All officers present. Bill Cotter, a club is in order for the people that operated the booth and a special thanks is in aeaber, aentioned the club buying the software for the new editor. Fmt the good news 1s that we had a .:mendous 100th of receipts, Ve bad five mbersbip renewals and stmg sales of Disks of the Month, blank disks, etc. Our 1onthly take totaled $196, Good job and a special thanks to Glen who bad to keep up with a very busy night of sales. fhe not so good nm is that the Club had SOie aajor expense co11it1ents it had to pay in October. They included: - three 1onths rental for the Couunity center - two 1onths BBS phone bill - October newsletter expenses - blank disks for the DOM library Ve ended up with a balance in our account of $516,29 which represents a reuction in our account of $172.33. Thanks to all the 1elbers' support who attended the October mting and let's try to repeat that support again for the Novelber 1eeting. See you then.

Atari 8-Bit on Intemet: Atari 26H etlation on a PC??? Subject: E1ulator-atte1pt iD one of the video gms groups to organize an effort to produce an Atari 2600 e1ulator for the PC (to run carts that were soaebow downloaded to disk). Besides tbe obvious copyright issues involved in doing this, they quickly found out, as they dug deeper i~to the problm, that even the li1ited hardware of the 2600 would be very challenging to co1pletely mlate in software on the PC. The 8-bit would probably be even 10re difficult to mlate. Actually, I think the 8 bit would be easier. I've seen tbe e1ulator code for the sr, and while it's not real-ti1e, it is a pretty co1plete e1ulation. Afast IBK clone could do an even better job than an 8 l!Hz ST. AllOSt anything can be e1ulated if you have enough power. On the 2600 though, it's a bit harder. There's so aany aspects of 2600 prograuing that rely not on what you do, but *when* you do it. It has tobe +/- 0 cycles in 1any cases. Getting that kind of accuracy, or finding SOie substitute, would be a real challenge.

Good for if you' re 1ean and take carts out while the power's on, like I do, (Hey! I don't wanna lose 1y RAK-disk!} During gm: Start - Return to title, Stlect - Sm as Start. F - forward view Aaft view L - long range (above) view. Can't kill tbe ene1ies here, at least it's not at all EASY! (I never have}. Ggalactic nap. lro1 here, use tbe stick to position tbe second cursor {tbe first stays in the square you currently are in} to the square you WART to go to. You will then be sent there when you go into Hyperspace. HHyperspace. See above. Also, ALWAYS do it from Front view (select Front or Aft, and if rracking's on,it will autoiatically 'track' the little pointer.} You KUSf keep the pointer as close to the center (crosshairs) as you can to be sent to the proper place on the aap! In Rovice 1ode, you don 't have to worry. I always select the fastest speed before a Hyper space ju1p so that tbe pointer is 1oving around as little as possible (you have to get up to Hyper space speed before you go into hyperspace!} 0 - lull stop. Slows speed down to true 0. Also aborts H. 1-9 - Different speeds. One being slowest. 9 is ROT the speed just before hyper space speed, but is very close. See above : ), CCo1puters on/off. When co1putm are on you get crosshairs and a window on the lover right which shows the position of an emy relative to your display. K - Change the currently-tracked ene1y. This lets you chose an enemy to be 'tracked" by sensors. Info. is given at tbe botto1 for it's 'azi1uth' and "altitude' and distance ('R'l, and it is the ene1y being shown in the window. T - Co1puter-tracking on/off. This autoaatically changes your view to the currently-tracked ene1y. (Rote: Co1puter usually picks the closest ene1y. Or iaybe it's just Tracking-mputer? Experi1ent. Try hitting [Kl and see if the T-C disagrees with you! : l } Your view will flip f ron Front to Aft depending on the position of the ene1y. It gets annoying so1eti1es. In Aft view you don't have the little window, and also the controls are backwards (of course!) P - Pause the gm, III - Inverse button (or Atari Fuji logo on the 400/800s},
