NEWSLETTER for July 2008 President’s Corner by Michael Current July 2008 SPACE has been up and running for 26 years straight now. This calls for a celebration! Let's all make it to this month's meeting, bring a dish to pass, and enjoy the evening with your Atari computing comrades. What's more, it's time for another auction this month! Surely you have to make it now! If that weren't enough, the NTSC version of Yoomp! is finally here. I sent it to Glen, eagerly hoping that he's able to make it work for this month's DOM. From what I've seen, Yoomp! is the best all-new game to appear on the Atari 8-bits in a long, long time. Whether or not it appears on our DOM, check out the web site for the game at http://yoomp.atari.pl/ . Treasurer's Report by Greg Leitner For June 2008
Another good turnout for the June SPACE meeting with six out of ten members present including our President, Michael Current, who drove all the way from Wisconsin even with gas prices topping $4.00 a gallon. I don't know about you but it's a sad time when it costs more to come to one meeting than renewing your SPACE membership for a year. Anyway, you all know that with our July SPACE meeting it is also our annual birthday party. So it would be nice to see all our SPACE members in attendance next month. Also you should bring a dish for everyone to share. Right now I can tell you that I will bring all the tableware materials, pop and a main dish. Tony will bring cookies and Lance may be bringing his little franks I have also planned another SPACE auction for the July meeting. I mostly have 8 and 16 bit software, but there wil also be magazines, brochures and a few hardware items. You

No expenses for the month as I forgot to give Nolan his $10.00 for the SPACE web-site. Sorry, Nolan, I guess I will have to make it up next month. Our treasury started the month at $838.56 and it ended the month at $871.56. I need to ask Michael Schmidt to submit his expenses for the newsletter for the past twelve months. So with the web-site expense we should still be around the $800.00 mark for our balance. Still a pretty healthy figure considering we have ten members supporting the Club. Well, that's about it for this month. Don't forget the party and auction next month. We want everyone to be there and guests are welcome. Despite the gas prices let's all be there and have a good time. See you then. **********************************************
Secretary's Report By Steven Peck For June 2008
Well, another month, another SPACE meeting. But, July is party month, and I am ready. There will be an auction next month and there was talk of that in June. I am sure that we will all be looking forward to the food and fun, I will be bringing my Atari 7800 games so I will hope that they will be a hit. Lance was talking about ST/STe upgrades coming up soon for the Atari 16-bit computers, I am going to persuade him to bring a Lynx game to demo for the party. He was going to bring it for the June meeting, but I forgot to remind him. Sorry, guys. Other than that there's not much going on in the Atari world. It might pick up a little bit in the fall, I thought I heard. But, I am not sure.
