I can't believe it. It's not even winter yet and Mother Nature has already taken her toll on our monthly meetings. It wasn't really all that bad on the road, but since I was only 10 minutes away from my workplace I decided to stay late and go to the meeting from there. If I would have gone home and come back I may not have made the meeting on time. Only a handful of members braved the evening and that was a shame since it was election time and also the time to sign up for the December Xmas party. Sorry to hear that Terry has to step down as president but we all understand that his personal life must come first. It seems that Terry has some great things lined up down the road if everything works out and we all wish him the best of luck. It was good to hear that he will still be our DOM chairman and we thank him for his continuing contributions to our Club. Don Langford has graciously accepted the position as President which opened up the Vice-president position. Since no other member present was interested in the position I have agreed to accept the Vice-president position along with the duties of Treasurer. If any member at the December meeting would like to run for the position of Vice-president you are very welcome to do so. It would have been nice to have the full membership present for the elections but it was not to be. The treasury rebounded in November as the Club took in a total of five membership fees including a new member, Randy Gelking. Welcome to the Club, Randy. It's always great to have a new member and someone who has owned and used an 8-bit Atari for many years. See, there still are some 8-bitters out there and we need to discover them. With the increase in the room rental starting in 1998 we need to find those closet Atari users.
December, 1997 Remember the Xmas party in December and we talked about having another auction in January. I hope you all receive this newsletter in time to decide what to bring to the party. I am bringing the pop and I know we have salads and a turkey coming. The list should be provided in the December newsletter and because of the poor turnout for the November meeting there are still a lot of choices still left for you to bring to the Xmas party. Let's all have a great time in December, and get ready for the Pacman Tournament. This one could be very competitive. Our thanks also must go to Glen and Mike for continuing their duties as Membership Chairman and SPACE Newsletter Editor respectively. Also thanks to Mike Weist for his past duties as Secretary and wish him success for 1998.
Minutes Of Space Meeting
Nov. 14, 1997
Meeting called to order at 7:45 PM. by Space President, Terry Streeter. Terry welcomed members to the meeting. Terry asked for a treasury report. Greg Leitner, club treasurer, reported that there weren't many DOM sales or membership renewals last month. Glen Kirschenmann, membership chair was gone. Room rental of $105 was paid out, newsletter cost were paid. The treasury balanced dropped to $747.14. Terry asked for a secretary report. Mike Weist, club secretary, recapped what was printed for a report in the November newsletter. Terry made the motion to approve both the treasury and secretary report. Approved.
OLD BUSINESSTerry Streeter, club president announced that he can't be club president after this meeting. Terry said because of his second shift j ob and he is also going to school at Brown Institute he has to step down. Don Langford will fill in as club president until a club member can step forwards to assume the president position. Terry Streeter will still do the DOM for the club each month. This will leave the vice-president open because Don Langford will be club president. Greg Leitner will assume this position, plus continue as club treasurer. The new officer slate will be as follows-
Along with the $75.00 in membership fees we also had DOM sales of $ 15.00 which brought us up to $90.00 in total receipts for November. Our expense was only $ 10.00 for BBS phone bill and so we gained $80.00 on our bank balance which now stands at $827.14.

NEW BUSINESSGeorge Viita, club member, asked if he could get a new November Space newsletter.
A Christmas party potluck list was circulated at meeting. Terry Streeter, club president, asked members to sign up to bring in potluck item for Christmas party. Brian Little, club member asked if the club could have a Pac Man Tournament at Christmas Party. Greg Leitner said club would have another auction after the January 1998. Room rental at the Falcon Heights will be going up for the Space Club. It was decided to raise the cost of the DOM from $3 to $4 after January 1, 1998. Club membership renewal will go from $15 to $20 when the member renews. Mike Weist, club member, said the club should try to think of creative ways to raise money for Space club. Lance Ringquist reported on the Atari situation. Atatj might be sold. He said all that is left is the company assets. This will mark the end of Atari.

Mike Weist reported on the Hamfest held in October '97 at the St. Paul Civic Center. Lance Ringuist reported on Atari Expo 98 to be held at the Alamand Hotel, near Disneyland, in California. This Expo is tentatively schedule .. It was announced that there was Atari hardware for sale by Terry Streeter in back of meeting room. Next meeting , the club will ask if anyone is interested in filling vice-president position . Meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM.
Mark your calendar for Space Christmas Party! Well, it is that time of the year. December meeting is our annual Christmas party! Turkey, Ray Wafer's famous potato salad, Bill Cotter's meatballs, Al Noble's special K bars, Mike and Earline's huge cakes, etc., etc. etc. and Greg Leitner's Ice Cold Pop to wash it down. A chance to talk Atari talk, be in the Christmas Spirit, and participate in the Pac Man Tournament. And maybe we might be visited by old Atari club members. Members that haven't signed the Christmas Potluck list circulated at the November Space meeting are asked to bring a potluck item to the Christmas party.
