Well, we finally got the cooperation from Mother Nature for our March meeting. This helped to bring out a larger turnout wich in tum helps out our DOM sales. The Sales for the month was $28.00 and along with one membership renewal, our total talce for the month was $43.00. We also as a bonus had receipts of $57.25 from the proceeds of the flea market at Mid-Winter Madness in February. This was quite a success due to the fact that bad weather kept the donations down. Just think of the possibilities if all the members contributed something for the Flea Market. A couple of hundred dollars added to our coufers would not be out of the question. Our only expense for the month of March was a $25.00 BBS upgrade, which was requested by Amos Jackson and quickly approved by the attending members. The final tally for the mouth was a net gain of $75.25 to our account, bringing the baiance to date at $595.92. Also, since U.S. West did not charge a fee for installing the new line for ow· BBS, we ended up with a S56.00 credit balance out of the original $100.00 we allocated for the BBS set-up fees. This credit should talce us through May with no additional expenses. All in all we are still sitting pretty good shape for 1994.

The way I see it. we have 30-40 members who support SPACE (attend meetings regularly). It is my understanding that these people are also interested in supporting the ATARI community, as stated in the by-laws. I had just thought it would be far easier for a group of people to support the costs of networking, than it would be for on~ _ dedicated individual. (NOT dropping any names here....)

User fees for those who use the networking function is an EXCELLENT idea. Fair to those who don't and gives each of us a real time idea of the cost and usage. I for one would be interested to know if it would be workable.
Well, as everyone who calls Warp 10 knows, I do the networking. SPACE would have only had to call Warp 10 (a local call) to get it's messages. I only would have had to call SPACE to get my messages, meaning free networking for the user group. The only cost would have been $20.00 for the software upgrade for the high speed networking, and that was a on time cost.

the SPACE meeting are members in good _standing (annual dues paid). Also, the many members who are in good standing do not avail themselves to the BBS. You are quite correct that the cost would be nice to be shared around, but; the many should not be asked to continue to support the few. I would like to see a surcharge added to the few who would avail themselves to the networking. That way the user gets to pay for the service.
That's an interesting concept, perhaps we can remember to bring that up at the next meeting. Do you think an additional $5 per year would be fair? Replies: 1 I think the time has come for SPACE to open up membership to ALL ATARI related equipment I mean from the lowliest 'Pong' and 2600 game system to the TT 030 and FALCON. ALL ATARI. The meeting would be Club Business, non-computer/system specific and then to break up into 'SIGs' (Special Interest Groups) for infonnal exchange of information/news. Simply stated, we need the members, AND, we need to start advancing the technology of our equipment PLEASE, no arguments about which machine is 'Better' or more 'Advanced' or anything else. We are all Atarians and TIIAT is what we need more of. Besides, if we can get some of the 'Gamers' to come in and the.y..see what can be done w-ith their systems they could very well decide to upgrade. These disks were handed to Mr. Joe Danko. Mr. Danko has not been at many meetings lately (me neither) I'm their now! I would like to know what happened to the clubs new software, supposedly it was 14 discs full of Atari. these are 1.4 meg discs Thanks

where to get it The one I am working on, PC Xformer (an MS-DOS port of ST Xformer) is not in beta testing or yet available anywhere, so claims about it sightings should be taken with a grain of salt. I read one post about an emulator that requires SuperVGA 640x480x256 mode. That is not PC Xformer. So let's lay some rumors to rest I did show an early version of PC Xformer about 2 years ago at the Chicago Atarifest and I will be showing a more complete version of it next month at the Sacramento Atarifest and passing out some information about it Since most people would never be caught dead in Sacramento, Mail me (not email) your name and mailing addre~ and I'll send you that info: · Darek Mihock.a 14150 N.E. 20th St. #302 Bellevue WA 98J07 Here is a quick summary of what PC Y..fonner does and major changes from ST Xfonner: -runs on any 286/386/486/Pentium or non-Intel processor that emulates at least a 286. -full speed emulation on roughly a 386/20. 286s will run slower. A 486/66 emulates 8 times faster than normal. Fast enough? <grin> An option allows you to slow down to roughly normal speed. -requires a VGA card only, not a SuperVGA, since it uses 320x200x256 mode. Over scanned programs don't go beyond 320x200. -GTIA, DLls, and PM/G are supported. (unlike ST Xformer which didn't support any of those graphics features due to the slow speed of emulation and crippled graphics of the S'I). -at the moment, no support for using the Xfonner Cable. Transfer your 8-bit files 10 th~ ST using the Xformer Cabie and then use those files on the PC, or use SI02PC. Other info (such as a compatibility list, beta testing info, etc.) will be mailed out later on, so send in your mailing addresses. I'm not sure of who's selling i and price though. Don't expect it to be ~ exact 8bit duplicate though, Dareks tracl recoxd for emulators (ST Xformer & gemulator) isn't perfect, you may find th programs just won't run under it always so try to test drive it at a dealer or a user group before you buy.
