July 2019
1982•THIRTY-SEVENTH BIRTHDAY EDITION•2019
SPACE was started 37 years ago, in 1982. How amazing is that? What else does it mean? It means, time for a PARTY! Bring a dish to pass, and enjoy the spaghetti meal, with your fellow Atari computer enthusiasts. Hope to see everyone there!! Thanks, keep using that Atari, and come to your next SPACE meeting and PARTY, Friday, July 12, 2019. Once again, it was only Glen and myself attending the June SPACE meeting. Lance, Steve, and Brian could not get transportation to the meeting, so Glen and I went over the 8-bit DOM and my purchase was the only receipt for the month. Adding my $3.00 purchase to last month’s balance brought our treasury to $499.54. We are getting to that time of the year when most of our members’ yearly dues are coming due (including my own), so that will see an uptick in our treasury in the coming months. Don’t forget to bring a dish for our July meeting birthday bash. Jackie and I will be serving a spaghetti dinner. We will also bring the table fixings, beverages, and French bread. I will leave the rest of the meal to all of you. I know we will have a good turnout next month for the party, so I will see you all there. TRIVIA TIME! The United States Army were interested so much in the game “Battlezone,” that they had wanted Atari Corporation to create a training version of the famous tank game for their cadets.
HELLO WORLD! Sorry for not being at the Meeting on Friday, May 14, 2019, but I can assure you that I will go on July 12. Since I was not at the May 2019 Meeting, I will make this short. There will be no A8 DOM Review for the June DOM, but I will create a DOUBLE Review for July covering two months. Anyway, I am looking forward to the July Party, and I will bring my usual chips and dip. I will be eager to try the spaghetti served by Jackie and Greg there. I always look forward to the root beer floats by Glen. I like Lance’s cocktail franks and beans, too. I may bring a guest, but we shall see about that. It depends on a few things. I expect that, with the people coming that night, the Treasury will expand as well. There will be people (including me) that would like a couple of DOMs for the last two months. Plus, like Greg said in the Treasurer’s Report, there could be renewals for some of the SPACE Memberships. If you have a renewal to pay for, please do. It is good for the Club and good for you. I also encourage all members to by DOMs, as they are loaded with great files, thanks to our Glen, our DOM librarian, and to the talented programmers from mostly Eastern Europe. Thanks and kudos to them. I thought that this would be short, but it got a little winded after all. My bad! So, with that, I close in the immortal salutation of the late, great Stan Lee. EXCELSIOR!
