Great to see everyone at SPACE last month! In Atari bankruptcy news, the 11 separate sets of Atari asset auctions took place July 16-19, or at least some of them did. We know that Rebellion Interactive Games was the successful bidder for the Battlezone Franchise auction on July 18 (minimum bid $250,000). Tommo was a "back-up bidder" for Battlezone. Nothing has been officially posted as of this writing (July 26) regarding the big Atari Brand / Atari Classics / Atari Casino auction that was set for July 19, minimum bid $15,000,000. It is conceivable there were no satisfactory bids submitted, unless the auction just didn't happen for some reason. The Sale Hearing, where the results of all the auctions were to be presented for approval by the bankruptcy court, was scheduled for July 24. Whether that happened is unknown right now; all the latest documents to appear online were dated July 23. Stay tuned, or visit http://bmcgroup.com/atari for the latest official word! SPACE Newsletter digitization update: Going back in time, month by month, I've made it back through September 1986 as of this writing. I expect to be able to make a lot of progress this summer. First, I want to appologize for the unusual circumstances that prevented the SPACE Party from happening last month. The party is on hold for now and we will look into having one later this year hopefully before the Xmas party. I was very appreciate of the support from the seven SPACE members who were present at the July SPACE meeting. After a very disappointing showing from the previous two SPACE meetings and collecting only $6.00 during that time, I hope you can all understand my doubt about getting enough receiptes to make our expense commitments by year end. But all the members present were very reassuring in their support of the Club, and they proved that by the following: We started the month of July with a bank balance of $285.92 and we would need by year end at least a bank balance of $360.00 to meet all of our expenses. After we got two membership renewals for $30.00 and sold fifteen Doms for $45.00, and paid out $30.00 for three month's web-site expense we ended up with a bank balance of $330.92, now my fears have already been put to rest for this year. I want to thank all our members for their support and hope that with a cooperative economy we can all continue the support needed for the future of SPACE. Long live SPACE!!

The meeting started at 7:30 PM with seven members present. We discussed the present and future financial status of the SPACE club. This included the possibility of moving the SPACE club somewhere else like Tony's business location in South Saint Paul. There was talk also about the Atari bankruptcy hearing (the company known as Atari will split into pieces) and the possibility of having the SPACE party later in the year. The meeting adjourned around 8:00 PM. There is one other thing. I believe SPACE can succeed and I will continue to support SPACE by buying DOMs from the club and renewing my membership on time. I encourage others to do the same and wish the best for the club. I apologize for not writing a Secretary's Report for over three months. I will make it paramount that these extenuating circumstances do not happen again. I will live up to expectations as an officer of the club and I will try harder to help the club function better. Thanks for letting me share that. This concludes my Secretary's Report. I will see you next month with another Report. In the words of my favorite comic book artist…
Four days of summer in the heart of Sweden has passed by in front of the Ataris, for the fifth year in a row. We've had a great time and met some old friends as well as a few new ones. The usual never-ending barbecues, sunny weather, the occasional rain and stress to run the demo compo in time. This year we got five demos/intro, eight pictures and four music contributions. A fifth music was prepared but we were unable to retrieve it in time, sadly as it was a quite unique Atari Lynx music entry. In any case the music is available now post-compo. Another different entry was a 4k procedural graphics from Cyg/BLaBla. The party version was buggy and didn't work, so in the end a finished rendered version of the picture was shown in the graphics compo rather than demo/intro compo. You can download both party-version and final version of the procedural graphics.
