Because of the low turnout we passed on the election until next month. Since no new member came forward to run this year it will just be a formality to re-elect the officers and chairmen at the December meeting. Here is the detail for our Treasury ending November 30,2008.
Season's greetings! I know you have all sorts of holiday social events to squeeze into your busy month, but make sure you fit SPACE into your plans! ELECTION this month! The main event of last month's Annual Meeting was postponed to this month, so we'll hold our election for the four positions on the Executive Board. Is this the year you'll step up to volunteer for SPACE? AUCTION this month! Sell your Atari stuff, buy Atari stuff! Who knows what will be available? PARTY this month! Bring a dish to pass, and enjoy the eats with your Atarian friends. Not much activity for the November meeting, but keep your calendar open on December 12, 3008. We will not only be celebrating our SPACE Christmas Party, but we also be holding another auction. I have some suspect hardware, magazines, any lot of 8-bit and 16-bit software. The hardware is as is just so you know before you bid. Great for parts though! I will be bringing fixings for tacos, pop and utensils. I think Lance is bringing little smokies and maybe 1919 root beer if he has any luck in finding it being that this item is seasonal. The rest of you are pretty familiar with what we need to complete the meal. Let's get evey member there with your (spouse/friend) and hope for good weather. Well, this had to be a first. I got to the November meeting a little bit earlier than usual only to find the parking lot almost completley full. I saw lights on over at the U stadium but I wasn't sure the cars were parked for that event. I found the last spot in the lot around the corner of the building and I held my breath as I walked up to the door of the Community Center. I was hoping there wasn't a party going on inside and as luck turned out there wasn't. Apparently the Falcon Heights Center had allowed the U to use their parking lot for their event and I even saw shuttle busses going back and forth. Anyway, we did end up with five members at the November SPACE meeting, and we even had a guest join us. I hope he will become a member in the future as it looked like he really enjoyed himself. His name is Brian and he is a former Commodore user(oops) but he really seemed interested in the 8-bit Atari. Glen had a great dom to show and Brian was very impressed with the graphics on this dom.
Secretary's Report By Steven Peck For November 2008
Well, another month, another report. I am happy to give it, so here it is. It is, after all my job and my pleasure to do it. It was SPACE Election month this month. But, the election had to be postponed because there weren't enough people to vote. Imagine that. Perhaps next month we will have it before the party, when there should be enough voters showing up. Again, we had a 66% ratio of members showing up for the November meeting, which is a positive turn-out.
There was no old business, but Lance announced there would be a new PCI peripheral made for the Atari Falcon computer . However, it will only work for a Falcon with a 68060 processor upgrade. Good news for those who want to somewhat modernize their Falcons and make them faster, or put a new sound or graphics card on a older Falcon. We demonstrated two new home-brew 7800 games, Beef Drop and Pac-Man Collection. Both are very good games. Beef Drop is a Burgertime clone, if you are familiar with the classic arcade game. It is an almost perfect copy of it expect for changes to avoid copyright infringement. Pac-Man Collection is a cart that has multiple versions of the Pac-Man games. They're all on one cart! Plus, the game play is excellent on both games and will challenge any seasoned, experienced player for hours on end. Both games are retailing for $39.95 through Video 61. If you want any 7800 game for your collection, I suggest one of these two, and/or both. That concludes the Report. Be a good Atarian, use your Atari. I'll see you next month. Thanks.
